Asylum Seekers and Refugees

Child and adolescent refugees and asylum seekers face significantly higher rates of mental health challenges compared to their non-refugee peers. PTSD rates are particularly high, along with depression and anxiety disorders. These mental health issues are often exacerbated by factors such as pre-migration trauma, forced displacement, and post-migration stressors, highlighting the urgent need for early, culturally-sensitive mental health support and interventions for this vulnerable population.
